What should we consider when buying a mattress?
In the mattress market there are different technologies and types of comfort which can make you hesitate when it comes to knowing which mattress is best for your rest. The Spanish Bed Association (ASOCAMA) answers 5 fundamental questions that will help you when it comes to renewing your mattress.
What level of firmness is recommended and are firm mattresses better than soft mattresses?
It cannot be said that the mattresses mattresses are better than soft mattresses. The degree of firmness needed depends on the user’s body, weight and shape. Generally, people who are smaller and thinner need softer mattresses than people whose body weight is greater.
Why is it important to test a mattress and how should we test it?
It is recommended that you spend a minimum of 15 minutes testing a mattress. By spending five minutes lying on your back and on each side, you will be able to determine whether that mattress is right for you or not. During the time of testing:⠀⠀⠀⠀ – In case it takes a lot of effort to turn over and lay on your side, that mattress is probably too soft for you. – Once you have laid down on the mattress, it is necessary to check that the entire spine is well supported on the surface of the mattress, so that all areas of the body are well collected. – Try to test the mattress on a type of base that you will normally use: canapé, upholstered base, bed base, etc. – If the mattress is going to be used by two users, it is recommended that they test it at the same time to know how it behaves with the weight of each one. ⠀⠀⠀⠀
Does sleeping posture influence the type of firmness needed?
Each sleeping position requires a different level of firmness. Generally, a back sleeper needs a mattress that offers enough support for the entire back to rest on the mattress. Why is it advisable to buy or renew the complete rest equipment instead of just the mattress?
A good rest is the combination of a good mattress and a suitable foundation. It is recommended that the mattress and foundation are chosen together to complement each other and provide the restorative rest your body needs. Both elements are designed to work together, with the foundation taking much of the nightly wear and tear and contributing to the comfort and support of the sleep equipment. Placing a mattress on an old foundation, adding a board between the mattress and the foundation or any other solution you may consider will reduce comfort and decrease the life of the mattress. ⠀⠀⠀⠀ From Naturalia® Poligón® we hope we have helped you with these tips for buying a mattress. ⠀⠀⠀⠀ Have a good rest! 🙂
