At Grupo Poligón we use approved machinery and state-of-the-art technology for the manufacture of all our products, thus achieving a quality rest. There are more and more products that advocate the so-called “miracle technologies”. As manifested by the various complaints collected and published in various media, there are numerous cases of “miracle products”, whose promoters strive to defend on the basis of arguments of dubious scientific support. In February 2019, the platform “Salud Sin Bulos” denounced in La Sexta the irruption in the market of tourmaline pillows that, according to their manufacturer: “help reduce headaches, dizziness, fatigue or discomfort and cause soothing effects on skin dryness and eczema”. Prior to that date, the newspaper Heraldo de Aragón echoed the complaint filed by the Asociación Aragonesa de Daño Cerebral Adquirido (ATECEA) against a company that offered “a mattress valued at more than 5,000 euros whose main virtue was to prevent stroke and cancer”.
Not only tourmaline pillows or the mattress that prevents cancer are cases of “pseudoscience” applied to rest. Granada Hoy reported the complaint filed by the Federation of Associations of Consumers and Users (FACUA) before the Consumer Service of the Junta de Andalucía. In it, they denounced the sale of a mattress that allegedly prevented diseases such as “arthritis, Alzheimer’s, lumbosciatica, osteoporosis or pulmonary emphysema”, among others. According to FACUA, this practice would constitute “an infringement of the regulations on advertising and promotion of health products” (Royal Decree 1907/1996, and concordant).
From mattresses that prevent terminal diseases, through pillows that soothe dry skin to mattresses that reduce the biological age of the sleeper. This was published by Europa Press in its news about the HOGO sleep system, which, supposedly, is capable of reducing the biological age of the sleeper by 15 years, due to the electromagnetic properties of the sleep equipment. According to the information published in the aforementioned media, the Spanish Association of the Bed(ASOCAMA) recommends, to ensure a quality rest, betting on manufacturers that, objectively and techniques, offer the market technologies that incorporate quality standards approved. In addition to betting on leading brands in the sector that are a guarantee of purchase, ASOCAMA alerts citizens of the need to renew the rest equipment. Spain is one of the countries of the European Union in which its permanence in homes is longer. Therefore, ASOCAMA advises replacing rest equipment before the age of 10 years, since factors such as use and the passage of time deplete their properties of firmness, comfort and hygiene.
