Teleworking from bed is not recommended.

BLOG

If you work from home, the idea of working remotely in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic may seem quite novel but teleworking from bed is not recommended, this should not be your new office. You don’t get up too early, you don’t have to think about what to wear, you can listen to your favorite music or program in the background, even work from bed. However, telecommuting from home requires a lot of perseverance and dedication. You need to structure your day as if you were in the office, otherwise you’ll find yourself succumbing to your bed. And, while that may sound appealing as there is nothing more comfortable, the Spanish Bed Association (ASOCAMA) recommends that your bed is not the best place to work. Teleworking from bed is not recommended. ⠀⠀⠀⠀

Why working from your bed can impact your sleep?

According to a study conducted by The Sleep Council, bedrooms should be reserved for one thing, sleep. With a third of the population surviving on less than six hours of sleep a day, this makes it all the more important. Teleworking from your bed can have a negative impact on work, productivity, posture and rest. It’s normal to feel a little more anxious than usual given the current COVID-19 health crisis, so it’s key that you strengthen the mental association between bed and rest. Just checking e-mails before bedtime can affect sleep quality. The blue light emitted by these devices suppresses melatonin levels, affecting the time it takes to fall asleep. In addition, the content we consume can also make us more alert and/or stimulated. Ideally, plan a workday and try not to bring work-related devices, laptops, tablets, phones, etc. to bed. ⠀⠀⠀⠀

Set certain limits

When you work from home it can be difficult to separate work and family life. You need to establish and maintain boundaries. It is recommended to keep a separate work area separate from the rest of the house, preferably not in the bedroom. Teleworking from bed is not recommended. If you do not have a spare room, try to adapt an office area of your own, for example, the corner of a room with a pull-out desk or a small area under the stairs. Keep your hours and avoid letting work become personal time. And, in case we have not convinced you and one day you work from your bed in an exceptional way, make sure it is at your height. It has to be as comfortable as possible! 🙂 ⠀⠀⠀⠀ In addition to the above, the Spanish Association of the Bed (ASOCAMA) recommends replacing the rest equipment before ten years of age, since factors such as use and the passage of time reduce its firmness, comfort and hygiene properties. ⠀⠀⠀⠀ From Naturalia® Poligón® we send our best wishes to everyone and we are sure that together we will succeed.
