The ideal mattress if you sleep alone

BLOG

According to consumer research conducted by the National Bed Federation (NBF), an association of UK sleep equipment manufacturers, more and more people are sleeping alone.⠀⠀⠀⠀ The study carried out by ‘DJS Research’, reveals that 32% of respondents bought a mattress “just for themselves”.⠀ On the other hand, the number of mattress purchases for couples dropped markedly below 50%. NBF’s Simon Williams stated that this backs up another survey we just conducted, one in six couples who live together now sleep separately. In addition, for many people separate beds are the only way to get a good night’s sleep.

What is the ideal mattress size for sleeping alone?

The Spanish Bed Association (ASOCAMA) picks up this trend of single mattress to advise what size mattress would be suitable if you sleep alone. It is true that the measure 90×190 is the standard for those who want to sleep on a single mattress. Increasingly we find more and more those who prefer to sleep alone but with more space, as they have the budget and space available in the bedroom. Bed width measures such as 105 or 135 are increasingly used for that single mattress. Regarding the length of the mattresses, the ideal is to have a mattress 10 or 15 centimeters above the height of the sleeper. Regardless of the size of the ideal mattress if you sleep alone, you must ensure that your bed is as comfortable as possible. For this reason, the Spanish Association of the Bed (ASOCAMA) advises to replace the rest equipment before the age of 10 years. Due to use and the passage of time, the firmness, comfort and hygiene properties of mattresses diminish.
